This is a first issue, which means everything in it is a proposal. Tell us where we are wrong and what we missed.
Corrections
We will get things wrong. When we do, we print the correction in the next issue, in the same size type as the mistake, and we say what we got wrong rather than that an error occurred. If you find one, write to us. You do not need to be polite about it.
Letters
Short letters get printed. Long ones get edited and then printed shorter, so save us both the trouble. Tell us your first name and your town, or tell us to keep both out. We will do whatever you ask with your name, and we never print the name of a premises in a letter, including yours, including when you want us to.
What we should be looking at
The most useful thing you can send us is a question you cannot get answered anywhere else. What the rules actually say about something. What changed in your town that nobody announced. What the number on a label is worth. We will chase it and print what we find, including when what we find is that nobody knows.
Editorial submissions
We take writing from people who do this work. Growers, budtenders, owners, suppliers, laboratory staff, inspectors, lawyers, bookkeepers, anybody whose day is spent inside this trade. What works: between 600 and 1,500 words on something you know from the inside, in your own voice, with nothing in it you cannot stand behind. What does not: anything promoting a shop, a brand, a strain or a point of sale, and anything written to sell something.
Pitch it in three sentences before you write it. We commission rather than collect, so ask about terms before you spend an evening on it. Anonymity is available and it is not a special favour.
The glossary
A word missing from the glossary, or one we’ve defined badly? Same form. Say which word and, if you know it, where it comes from.
Budtender of the Year
Every great counter has a hero behind it. Tell us who made your day: their name or nickname, where they work (contact only, never published), the city, why, and a funny story if there is one. One award for all of Europe this year; who counts as a budtender in each country, and what happens to a nominee, is on the Budtender of the Year page. Nominations close 5 December 2026.
